Microblading & Permanent Makeup

Pretty Permanent Makeup Procedures

The term “permanent makeup” is a bit of a misnomer because it isn't truly permanent, but with long-lasting results and little downtime, the popularity of microblading and permanent makeup is exploding. Led and trained by certified trainer Julie Michaud, our team of Certified Prettyology Micropigmentation Specialists gently and expertly tattoo pigments below your epidermis to make you look like you wake up, made up.

Most of our clients come to us after learning that Prettyology is the secret to their friends’ beautiful brows. Our reputation is key to our success. Only our very best, proven makeup and brow artists are selected to receive the training and experiential learning required to become a Certified Prettyology Micropigmentation Specialist. Our training program was developed and is led by founder Julie Michaud - who, importantly, has trained no less than seven winners of Boston Magazine's Best of Boston award in addition to winning the award eight times herself. It’s the most comprehensive and rigorous of any in the industry. Learn why this matters here.

With over 5,000 procedures performed annually, you can be confident that Prettyology is the microblading & permanent makeup destination.

Consultation 30 minutes.   $50 (applied towards cost of procedure w/in 3 months)

Consultations are mandatory before any first time microblading / permanent makeup procedure, scar correction or camouflage, and tattoo removal procedure. This is true even (especially) if you’ve had it done somewhere else.

We assess your skin type and condition, relevant medical background, lifestyle, goals, desires, and any upcoming special events that affect your scheduling. We’ll then discuss the various treatment methods available, the pros and cons of each as they apply to you personally, and any preparation you’ll want to do in order to maximize your results.

Come to the consultation with an open mind. Social sites like Instagram have created enormous misunderstanding and misinformation around buzzwords like "microblading", leading clients to too often ask for the wrong thing and walk away disappointed.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, we recommend booking a remote consultation by Zoom video call rather than in-person at Prettyology.

    Touch Ups

The description and prices below apply only to touching up work originally done by Prettyology not more than 36 months prior. Beyond 36 months is considered a new first-time application. If you've had work done by any other practitioner, please click here.

"Permanent makeup" can last for years. But the pigments are not like those used for body tattoos and are not truly permanent. That's one of many reasons we prefer to use the term "micropigmentation" rather than "permanent makeup".

How long you can go between touch ups depends upon several factors, including:

    • Skin type
    • How natural the initial look was. The finer and more natural the individual hair strokes, the more crisp you'll want to keep them
    • Amount of sun exposure
    • Use of anti-aging products and treatments
    • The shade of pigments used
Prices apply to both microblading and digital pen techniques
*Additional cost for Glamour (extra thick) or Stardust (smudging). Specify at time of booking.
*Additional cost for Glamour (extra thick) or Stardust (smudging). Specify at time of booking.
    * Prices apply to both full lip and lip line procedures.

If you’ve previously had permanent makeup applied by someone other than Prettyology

Many new clients ask us to correct or refresh permanent makeup that was applied by someone else. We can usually improve the appearance. In many cases, we can achieve the same result as if we'd done the work from scratch.

This involves several unknowns: brand and composition of the pigments used by the original practitioner, color, shape, fading, your skin's natural pigmentation, length of time since most recent application, and more. Because of this, we can not guarantee a specific result or how many sessions will be optimal.

Pricing: We schedule and price this service as an entirely new application (see pricing elsewhere on this page). This price includes an initial appointment and one free followup visit. If additional work is required to correct someone else's work, additional appointments are scheduled and charged as a touchup according to our standard touchup rates.
