Permanent Makeup (Micropigmentation)

Pretty Permanent Makeup Procedures

The term “permanent makeup” is a bit of a misnomer because it isn't truly permanent, but with long-lasting results and little downtime, the popularity of micropigmentation (also known as permanent makeup, semi-permanent makeup, permanent cosmetics, or cosmetic tattooing) is exploding. Led and trained by certified trainer Julie Michaud, our team of licensed micropigmentation artists gently and expertly tattoo pigments below your epidermis to make you look like you wake up, made up.

Most of our clients come to us after learning that Prettyology is the secret to their friends’ beautiful brows. Our reputation is key to our success. Only a small number of our very best, proven makeup and brow artists are selected for our micropigmentation team. Each receives intensive "ground up" training and supervision directly from our founder – who, importantly, has trained no less than six Best of Boston award winners in various disciplines. With nearly 200 procedures performed each month, you can be confident that Prettyology is the destination for micropigmentation.

    Touch Ups

The description and prices below apply only to touching up work originally done by Prettyology. If you've had work done by any other practitioner, please click here.

"Permanent makeup" can last for years. But the pigments are not like those used for body tattoos and are not truly permanent. That's one of many reasons we prefer to use the term "micropigmentation" rather than "permanent makeup".

How long you can go between touch ups depends upon several factors, including:

    • Skin type
    • How natural the initial look was. The finer and more natural the individual hair strokes, the more crisp you'll want to keep them
    • Amount of sun exposure
    • Use of anti-aging products and treatments
    • The shade of pigments used

If you’ve previously had micropigmentation done by someone other than Prettyology

Many new clients ask us to correct or refresh micropigmentation that was applied by someone else. We can usually improve the appearance. In many cases, we can achieve the same result as if we'd done the work from scratch.

This involves several unknowns: brand and composition of the pigments used by the original practitioner, color, shape, fading, your skin's natural pigmentation, length of time since most recent application, and more. Because of this, we can not guarantee a specific result or how many sessions will be optimal.

In lieu of a paid consultation, you can email a photo of what the area looks like currently. In your email, please tell us:

    • Who applied the micropigmentation previously?
    • When was it applied?
    • What do you like and not like about the existing appearance?
    • What is your goal?

We'll respond with what we feel we can accomplish.

Pricing: We schedule and price this service as an entirely new application (see pricing elsewhere on this page). This price includes an initial appointment and one free followup visit. If additional work is required to correct someone else's work, additional appointments are scheduled and charged as a touchup according to our standard touchup rates.
